ULORIN

Another of Faye's images from our recent session with C. Once again Faye works magic with her famous finger waves as well as creating the image.

USING THE LIGHT

Today we have another image from Sunday’s workshop. We were demonstrating how to find and use available light at a venue. We used Wendy, who Scott brought along as a model for the day, and it was wonderful because Wendy had never modelled before so it was ideal for us to show how to work with and build a relationship with a client in a short space of time. This image was shot in the lounge of the hotel with available window light only.

FINDING THE LIGHT

Another image from Sunday's workshop at Pitoddrie House. This is one of Faye's images taken in subdued light at an old garage door that I found round the back of the hotel. David's shirt got a bit 'green' as a result of this session. Sorry David.

The great news is that we have booked David and Tinkerbell to do a bridal SHOOT IN THE CITY session with us in a couple of weeks time. We then hope to offer a SHOOT IN THE CITY in either Edinburgh or Glasgow for 6 delegates so if anybody is interested in a Sunday shoot with 2 fabulous models then drop me an email for further details as it will be first come first served. In addition we will be using Bowens portable flash and Quantum heads on this workshop for some off camera lighting.

PITTODRIE HOUSE WORKSHOP

Saturday’s wedding was wonderful and what wonderful company Kommie + Sharon were as were all the guests. More on this later in the week. We left Cromlix on Saturday evening, stopped at a Little Chef for a toasted sandwich, which I must say, was very tasty and accompanied one of the best cups of fresh coffee I have had in a while. Then on to Cults, Aberdeen where we spent that evening with my little sister and her family. Sunday saw us up early and of to Pittodrie House hotel about 30 minutes north of Aberdeen and one of the most romantic wedding venues you can hope to image with views to die for. We were here to meet with 2 delegates, Scott and Susan, who had asked us for a day workshop with an emphasis on lighting and posing. They had organised some fabulous models, in the morning we had Susan’s nieces, Ellie and Olivia with little Ava as the baby model. In the afternoon we had David and Kirsty (aka. Tinkerbell) followed by Wendy and her friend who was also persuaded to model for us.

The weather for most of the day was wonderful, shaded light with just some bursts of full sun. We were able to use anywhere inside the hotel which was fabulous and anybody who has ever been to this part of the world will know how wonderful the outdoor location are. We managed to find some wonderful doors and sheds around the back of the hotel where guests rarely venture and the woods beside the house were ideal for the children’s session in the morning. Considering David and Tinkerbell had never met each other until they arrived at the venue they both made a superb couple and the children were excellent always difficult when being faced with 3 strangers armed with cameras.

One of my images today but I think that Susan and Scott also got some wonderful shots from the day and I hope they both managed to see the importance of communication with both adults and children to set them at ease as quickly as possible. Also how and where to look for light indoors and out and as I said we can show you how we see light but the only way to learn is to go out and practice, practice, practice. More images of the workshop tomorrow.

BEACH BLAST

Another from the archives. Must have been back in 88/89 this shot of Faye's of me (dark hair, in fact hair!) with some of or favourite models from that period. It was a beach barbie with the girls and hair by the very talented Charlie Miller and some of his artistic team. (remember its late 80's folk) Seem to recall we went swimming afterwards and that's in the Firth of Forth so not quite the Med!
